Danna Burchess '14
Accounting | Vice President/BSA Officer, First National Bank of Gillette
It took Danna Burchess more than 20 years, but she finally made it home. After living in Grand Island for 22 years, Danna is back in her home town of Gillette, Wyoming, working as the Vice President and BSA Officer for the First National Bank of Gillette.
“I would not be where I am today without Doane in Grand Island,” she said in a phone interview from her office. “It opened doors. The experience was phenomenal. I’d do it again.”
Burchess, who earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Doane in Grand Island while working full time and raising a family, says Doane’s commitment to adult learners made all the difference to her.
“I was a full-time worker and a full-time student,” she said. “The way the classes were arranged there was super helpful. Being a full-time student with just two classes a week was super helpful.”
Burchess had a lot of options to continue her education in Grand Island but chose Doane because of the quality of the faculty and classes offered.
“The quality of the teachers, professors, and instructors at Doane is second to none in my opinion,” she said. “They were great. They had real-life stories.”
