Measure 2: Indicators of Teaching Effectiveness

Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) administers the Nebraska First Year Teacher Survey and Third Year Survey both to the principals and to the first year teachers (Spring 2020).  Evaluation indicators are based on Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Model Core Teaching Standards, 2011.


2019-2020 Survey 1st Year Response Rates
Doane University response rates:  First year teacher (FYT) survey by principals:  60% and First year teacher survey by teachers: 75%
Statewide response rates: First year teacher survey by principals: 76% and First year teacher survey by teachers:  71%.

FYT 2019-2020 School Year Data:  First year teachers employed in the 2019-2020 school year are May 2019 graduates at the initial undergraduate level and 2018-2019 cohort completers in the Initial Certification at the Advanced Level.
